1938 -2024

Loretta died peacefully in the arms of Jesus with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in Dallas. She was born in Dallas on May 1, 1938, to parents Hugh Eugene and Hazel Inez Adkins Jones.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her husband, Billy Sims of 55 years; She is also survived by two sons, Alan Eugene Thompson and wife, Laura, of Elberton, Georgia, and Ricky Glenn Thompson of Guatemala; two sisters, Annette Hays of Point, and Linda Johnson and husband, Allen, of Rockwall. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Hazel Jones; a nephew, Blake Johnson; a niece, Stacy Browning; and a brother-inlaw, Melvin Hays.

Funeral services for Loretta Gene (Jones) Sims, 85, were scheduled for Saturday, January 6, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Edgewood. A burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held Jan. 5, 2024, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
