The Texas Star Quilters Guild has begun a ‘Community Sit & Sew’ on the second Friday of every month at the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library in Canton from noon to 4 p.m. “We welcome beginners to those experienced!” said an event spokesperson.

Canton Maintenance will have one crew repairing base and performing overlay on FM 3227. Expect lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Also, crews will be performing bridge maintenance on FM 16, I-20, and other locations throughout the county. Another crew will be sweeping curb and gutter and bridges throughout the county. As of the end of the business day Feb. 26, a total of 2,301 votes had been cast during the first two days of Early Voting for the March 5 Primary Election, according to the Van Zandt County Clerk’s office.
