The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Canton has announced plans to host free car seat and booster seat inspections from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library, located at 317 First Monday Lane, in Canton.

Stop by the Van Zandt Farm Bureau in Canton at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, to pick up a free soil testing kit and learn about the sample collection process, the forms, and the reasons why you should soil test.

The Spirit and Squirt Horse Rescue Spring Concert is scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at the Van Zandt County Fairgrounds located at 24792 State Highway 64 in Canton. The concert will feature ‘Jimmy Lewis & 8 Second Ride Band.’ There will be free entry, but parking will be $20 per vehicle.

A new farm bill tops the list of priorities for Texas farmers and ranchers this year. “The 2018 Farm Bill was extended late last year, which we appreciate, however, we cannot afford further delays in getting an updated farm bill that addresses the needs of farmers and ranchers,” Clayton Conway, Van Zandt County Farm Bureau president, said.

The Community Health Fair is scheduled for Feb. 23 at the Wills Point Chamber of Commerce located at 307 North Fourth Street.
