The Wills Point Tigers and Nevada Community Braves clashed in bi-district round action last week, looking to extend their respective seasons while earning a spot in the Area round. Game one of the series would prove to be a thriller and Nevada Community scored a late run to edge the Tigers by a narrow 1-0 margin.

White bass are fun to catch and excellent table fare regardless whether they are caught during their annual spawning run up rivers or secluded creeks or right now when they have wrapped up their procreation efforts and are in giant schools on the open waters of the main lake.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS.

Van Zandt County was well represented at the UIL State Tennis Tournament April 25- 26 with three different doubles teams, including two from Edgewood and one from Wills Point, among the competitors. Jyllian Phillips and Kristyn Dunn would represent Wills Point in the 4A State Tournament, getting paired with Bella Rodriguez and Chloe Wanek of Fredericksburg in the Quarterfinal round.

Track and field athletes from across Van Zandt County made their way to sites across East Texas April 28-29, competing at their respective Regional Meets for an opportunity to adto State. Class 4A Region II Meet Athletes representing the county’s three largest school districts, Canton, Van and Wills Point, made their way to Texas A&M - Commerce April 28-29 to square off against the best 4A competitors from Region II.
