Lady Tigers earn tournament split

sports@vanzandtnews.com The Wills Point Lady Tigers stayed busy over the holiday break, following up a solid 2-1 start to their district slate with an appearance at the Quitman Tournament Dec. 28-29. Wills Point would fare well overall at the two-day event, going 2-2 against The Lady Tigers opened play against Bland Dec. 28, battling down to the wire in a 51-48 triumph.

Tiger tennis program receives sportsmanship award

The Wills Point Tiger tennis program has been a model of consistency on the court over the years, routinely making deep playoff runs and trips to the State Tennis Tournament. While the Tigers finished just short during the fall on a return trip to State, the program was recently recognized by the United State Tennis Association for their sportsmanship.

Tigers to host annual tournament

The Wills Point Tiger basketball program got its first taste of tournament action last week, making the short trip to Edgewood to compete in the annual Jack Shellnutt Invitational Tournament. Wills Point experienced highs and lows over the threeday event, finishing with a 2-3 record against a slate that included Van, Chapel Hill, Paris, Kemp and Life Oak Cliff.
